5 out of 5 stars Magnavox DVD/Vcr player   August 30, 2010

I am pleased with this purchase. It's a no-nonsense player, it does what it says it should do and it was easy to install. And, the price was just right.

2 out of 5 stars VCR To DVD Recorder   August 28, 2010
pittypat
The recorder is probably technically good; however, it is very difficult to use. The manual has skimpy instructions and spread over so many pages it is hard to follow. A separate page is given for each selection with the same first four or five steps on each. The recorder was so frustrating to operate (after trying to record on four separate DVDs) that I gave up and have returned it to Amazon. A more technically competent person could use it with very little difficulty - but this is not for a "senior citizen".

1 out of 5 stars Absolutely awful   August 28, 2010
Pat C. Ames (Indiana)
I received one of these as a gift, tried to set it up last night. It took two calls to tech support to get the DVD tray to even open (some sort of special code they have - try the remote, try the face panel, press and hold this, disconnect that, turn it off, turn it on, blah, blah, blah). Once I got it open and tried to play a DVD, instead of regular play, it skipped over everything at the beginning and hit the first fraction of a second of the beginning of each chapter before repeating the same thing ad nauseum. Thinking it might be a problem with the DVD, I tried another and the same thing happened. Guess the fast forward button was jammed. Couldn't unjam it. Was told I'd need a receipt in order to get warranty service (didn't have one). Asked about where to get it fixed, was told to take it anywhere I wanted since it wasn't covered under warranty.

I took it into the garage, bashed the crap out of it and felt a lot better. I will never buy another Magnavox product again!

4 out of 5 stars VCR/DVD review   August 16, 2010
Mary J. Davidson (Phoenix, AZ, USA)
I really like this product. I am a fan of the VCR (to me it's less complicated to operate) and this is ideal for me or anyone else who likes to record on VHS tapes.
