2 out of 5 stars Magnavox ZV457MG9 DVD/VCR Recorder   March 5, 2010

All functions work on this DVD/VCR recorder, it is pretty easy to understand, set-up and use. The problem with mine is play back on the VCR, the picture is slightly blurry, numbers and letters that are given on tape like at news time across screen are blurred, some times when going from DVD to VCR the sound is muffled, I ture it off the back on and it is OK.

5 out of 5 stars Magnavox DVD VCR Recorder with Tuner   March 4, 2010

Love this recorder. It supplements another Magnavox DVD recorder I already have. The digital tuner works great as I subscribe to analog cable only and I am able to access a couple digital channels that I can record programs. Though I haven't tried the transfer function yet, I am looking forward to transferring some videos to DVD.

Unit does a nice job recordng. Picture and sound quality are good depending on what recording time you use. Found some difficulty using program recording at first until figuring out the paths that had to be followed in order to switch from DVD to VCR and so on. Otherwise the product does an overall good job and would buy again.

2 out of 5 stars VHS/DVD Magnavox ZV457MG9   February 22, 2010

I purchased this after I had problems with my Panasonic VHS/DVD unit. I read the reviews. When it works, it works well. The major problem is programming the unit. It is difficult, confusing and at times does not respond correctly. When it does not respond correctly I have to shut off the unit and start all over again. Not a fun unit to deal with. I don't know if all the VHS/DVR units out there are like this one. Compared to the units the cable companies offer this one is a real pain.

The instruction manual is impossible to understand. You may discover on your own how to use this machine, you may not. But you will spend a lot of time trying to do it.
