1 out of 5 stars Do not buy this unit!   February 4, 2010

Another unit with a DVD side that will no longer load/play. The 1st time was after about 4 months of very, very light use (about 20 hours total). Customer service told me how to do a reset. This seemed to fix the problem (for a while). Of course I'm out of warranty now ant it won't play any disc now and the reset will not work. The Samsung customer service reps ran me around about loading a firmware update they would send me via email in 5 min. which I was to copy to a disc and insert into the machine (after I pointed out there was no USB port they told me to use first). After killing an hour and a half waiting on the email and 2 more calls to Samsung the 3rd rep informed me the firmware update was only for Blu-Ray players and was not available for this unit. His advice..."get compressed air and clean the player". Good luck with that!

Don't waste your time or money on this junk!

5 out of 5 stars Great for the price.   January 18, 2010

Some of us don't need all the bells and whistles Others might be looking for a second machine for the kids or a specific task; this is the one. With a price painless for the pocket, you get a basic combo player/recorder. It is best suited to those of us who do not have cable as it does not have that feature. Otherwise, why spend more?

I am done with Samsung. I bought this DVD player almost 13 months ago. I had to take the first one back after several weeks because the video became extremely distorted. The second one was sent in for repair after about six months for the same reason I returned the first one. Now it is doing it again. I thought Samsung was supposed to be a top brand.
